Titanic Tales is a gorgeous 192-page pulp/comic experiment from Mark Wheatley and his friends at Insight Studios. Inside, comics characters like Radical Dreamer and Doc Cyborg step into pulp fiction -- while The Spider, a pulp hero, gets his own 50-page comic book adventure. And what an adventure! Once you get past the modern, too-clever title, you will find the real, authentic fanged Spider in real, authentic canibal-fighting pulp mayhem! Wheatley is clearly having a ball with one of his favorite genres and the fun spills over to the reader. The black and white artwork is loose, but moody and effective. Unfortunately it's too short to really capture the scope of a full Spider novel, but it does a great job of capturing the climax of one -- a good, early one!
