(October 1984-October 1985) After the Bantam-ification of The Spider in 1969, and the Destroyer-fication of The Spider in 1975, this shortlived series was a nice return to the pulp roots, but still felt fresh. DiMedia, who had published a few facsimile editions in 1980 (distributed through Pulp Press), wisely revived The Spider's original angular logo (now with a thicker border), and commissioned new cover portraits by fantasy artists Ken W. Kelly and Kelly Freas. Another nice retro touch in the first novel is the use of Popular Publications' logo and house ads.
