Warren Hull Clippings
I was surprised to find that Warren Hull had a whole other career -- arguably a
more successful one -- after he left acting in 1941. He went back into broadcasting,
hosting such shows as The Hit Parade, Vox Pop, and Spin to Win
(Goodson & Todman's second game show). As a former matinee idol he easily made the
transition to suave TV host. He emceed for the next two decades on shows like
Strike it Rich, Top Dollar, Who in the World, and Beat the Odds.
Vox Pop
Vox Pop was an audience participation show created by Parks Johnson
that travelled the world to bring the voice of the common man to the airwaves.
Warren Hull co-hosted the program from 1942-1948.

Strike it Rich
Strike it Rich started on the radio in 1948, but became a TV hit in 1951.
The premise of the show sounds bizarre now: It was a quiz show, but the contestants all had
a hard-luck story and in effect competed for medical devices or whatever charity that they required.
Yeah, it sounded exploitive enough that the New York welfare board looked into the program,
though nothing came of this investigation. You will see in the articles below that the show
is lauded in the entertainment press for its charitable works. Rich went off the air in 1958.
