Spider T-Shirts

I've recently gotten into making T-shirts. They combine illustration, design, and branding -- plus it's art that you can wear, and it makes a statement. I've done this for a number of my favorite classic properties (Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, Captain Marvel) when a particular graphic catches my eye. The most shirts I've done, though, are for The Spider. It all started with the Pocket Books shirt, believe it or not, which I wore to PulpCon 2005 -- my idea at the time was to make the ringer shirt that might have been done back in the Seventies, hence the Robert Maguire paperback art. (And the brown-blue-orange outline combo I even copied from an old Chewbacca design for added authenticity.) All these shirts were done with inkjet transfer paper you can buy at any office supply store. The trick with the dark shirts is having the patience to cut out the design very specifically, but the result is it looks silkscreened in most cases.
